Reducing production time for making molds: (A 61.5 % reduction in time from design through finish machining) The LUMEX Avance-25 eliminates the conventional processes of rough machining, turning, grinding, electrode making and EDMing. Complete cores and cavities can be created as one piece eliminating the time and skill required for sectioning and assembly. Design and data processing time are dramatically reduced by the elimination of individual mold sections and EDM electrodes.

Creating products that cannot be manufactured by conventional milling: The LUMEX Avance-25 makes it possible to create products in shapes that cannot be formed by conventional methods, such as products with deep ribs, 3D meshes, hollows, free-form surfaces, or porous structures to be built into desired positions in a single process – plus customized products such as artificial bone and dental implants.


Additive Manufacturing

One machine, one process—complex mold manufacturing

The LUMEX Avance-25 is a single machine platform integrating a fiber laser for state of the art powder metal sintering and a 45,000 RPM spindle machining center for high accuracy, high speed milling.

Revolution in metal processing: The LUMEX Avance-25 removes the limitations of other metal laser sintering machines by involving the high speed milling process as the material is built up. After ten layers, .002” each are sintered, the mill comes in and finish machines that level before the next ten levels are created. This alternating process produces molds with dimensional accuracy and surface smoothness through the thickness of the part including deep ribs that are otherwise impossible to reach.

Internal cooling lines and structures: The LUMEX Avance-25 provides for the creation of integrated cooling pipes internally on any component, mold or die. Compared to conventional post process cooling pipes, those created on the LUMEX are far superior and efficient at cooling, contributing to a 30 to 40% reduction in injection molding time.

Creating deep ribs with no EDM processing: The LUMEX Avance-25 builds up laminations of layers by metal laser sintering and mills them at high speed, thus making it possible to perform the high-precision machining of deep ribs and thin ribs without the need to create difficult electrodes for use in the sinker EDM process.

Porous sintering for gas venting: The LUMEX Avance-25 can freely make sintering density changes for the placement of porous structures and air permeability control without restrictions, this performing gas venting more effectively than any other machine. Proper vent placement can reduce filling time, prevent uneven filling and eliminate gas burning.
